Can I become a volunteer?
Volunteers are needed from time to
time, and can assist in many activities. Volunteers can help to fill the bins,
unpack deliveries, put price labels on goods, and other odd jobs. If working in
the shop isn't your thing, perhaps you have some other skills you could offer,
such as helping with newsletters, research, carpentry, sign writing, etc. Just
ask a staff member if you're interested in being involved, or add your name to
our skills list by the front door.
Volunteers
are entitled to a 20% discount off member prices on their purchases at the
Co-op. Members who have done 4 voluntary work hours at the Co-op have up to 6
months to receive 20% discount on $250 worth of purchases.
Members
are also welcome to come along to the ‘open’ Directors &
Combined meetings, which are held on the third Tuesday of every month.
Inviting Interested Members
The
Co-op is looking for new inspiration and input for our Board of Directors. This
involves attending a meeting on the third Tuesday of every month and
volunteering for some of the myriad of jobs that need doing during the year,
probably an average commitment of 4-6 hours per month or so.
Elections
for new Directors are held every November. Terms are for 2 years.
Ideally,
we’re looking for someone with one or more of these skills: community
management experience; financial experience; small business experience; public
relations & marketing skills or computer skills. You’d need to be happy
working in a team, have an interest in wholefoods,
and be good at communicating with others.
The
position is voluntary, but you do receive 20% discount off members’ prices when
you shop. Other rewards include many funny and interesting meetings (it’s
true!), friendships, new skills and good karma for your next 20 lives.
Is this
you? We hope so! Please chat to any of the staff at the Co-op if you’d like to
know more, or alternatively, phone us on 02-4782-5890.
